We welcome all children of all abilities!
We are an ever-growing age-group who have seen fantastic development in all our players over the last season. We pay particular attention to the core values of Rugby ; Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
This age group for school Year 3 children. We play tag rugby under the RFU Age Grade Rugby Guidance.
If your child is interested in joining us, please just turn up to one of our training sessions on a Sunday morning. Our sessions usually run from 10.30 - 12.00, with hot dogs and drinks served in the clubhouse afterwards. If you haven't been before, please turn up at about 10.00 and see the U8 age group coordinator Matt Spring or U8's head coach Heidi Salisbury.
About the Under 8’s
The under 8’s play non-contact, Tag rugby and we welcome both boys and girls to the team. Our ethos is to give every child an equal opportunity to learn and play rugby. We play to win but not at the expense of teamwork, participation and most importantly enjoyment. We want all the children to understand the core principles of rugby, to have fun and hopefully play in a team in which they make friends for life.
All our coaches are RFU qualified and some still actively play for the senior club.
We put great emphasis on training and it is more important than matches. Please ensure that your child is adequately clothed as they can always take layers off if they get too warm. No hoodies as these can be dangerous. Make sure they have a drink that they bring out with them and where possible some fruit to eat as well.
Post Christmas we will slowly start introducing some basic contact skills so please ensure your child has a gum shield with them at training.
We play a number of fixtures throughout the season both at home and away. Please respond to your club emails or Teamer invites so we know that you are aware of where your child should be. At this age, unlike some clubs, we believe in giving every child a game and winning is not the only thing we play for. We want to see your child improving their skills and as a team progressing each week. As coaches we are all very competitive people however we see the benefit of building a team with every child playing their part.
If you have any concerns about any the activities your child does or just want to discuss anything please come and talk to any of us.
